Meet Anandi
My yoga journey began in 1995 in Pune, India, where I first immersed myself in the practice. For years, I kept returning to Pune for six months at a time to deepen my study. In 1997, I began teaching in Goa, India, where I was first introduced to teaching with wall ropes—a wonderful tool that provides immense support and clarity for body alignment. Over the years, I’ve had the joy of sharing yoga across the globe, teaching in the U.K., Spain, India, and Thailand, before finally making beautiful Taupō my home in 2005.
Driven by a lifelong passion for precision and structural integrity, I dedicated myself to the rigorous path of the Iyengar method, officially achieving my Level 1 Iyengar Certification in 2025. Today, my teaching is focused exclusively on Iyengar Yoga.
What is Iyengar Yoga?
Iyengar Yoga is a deeply mindful practice that focuses closely on precision and structural alignment. Developed by B.K.S. Iyengar, this method is unique for its innovative use of props—such as blocks, straps, blankets, and ropes. These tools help safely demystify complex postures, making the practice incredibly accessible for beginners while offering profound depth and stability for seasoned practitioners.
My Classes
In my classes, expect expert guidance, individual alignment adjustments, and a thoughtful use of equipment tailored beautifully to your body's unique needs. While our practice focuses intentionally on physical and structural alignment, it is always balanced with dedicated time for quiet, restorative integration.
For me, yoga has truly become a way of life. I remain a passionate, lifelong student, continually practicing and studying so I can bring the grounding, transformative benefits of this wonderful path to our community.
My husband and I live here in Taupō, where I look forward to welcoming you to our public classes, private sessions, and boutique island retreats.
